Artificial Lures: Spinners

Spinners (and “spinnerbaits”) feature a spinning blade or blades that vibrate and flash to attract fish to the spinner body, whether it’s plastic, skirted, feathered or just a baited or bare hook. There are two basic styles of spinners. “Inline” spinners usually feature a single blade mounted to a straight wire shaft with some type of body and a treble hook attached. “Spinnerbaits” feature a wire shaft usually angled at 45 degrees. At one end is one or two blades attached to a swivel. At the other end is the lure body, commonly skirted with rubber or plastic strands. Spinnerbaits usually have one large hook, onto which an additional trailer (or “stinger”) hook may be attached.
