The sora, though not in the same genus as most others rails, is in the Rallidae family and is often called a sora rail, although its proper name is sora. It differs from other rails by utilizing more open and deeper waters and in eating more plants than invertebrates. The rail is a very secretive bird, and is heard much more often than it is seen.
