Duck hunting is usually most successful in bad weather due to the poor visibility for the duck.
It helps to use a method called, calling on the corners. This means you should call when the duck is flying away from you to the left or right instead of when it is flying towards you. This makes it more difficult for the duck to pinpoint your location.
The CMP is authorized to provide support and encouragement to clubs and state associations with emphasis on strong junior programs.
Type of Organization
The CMP was created by the U.S. Congress. The original purpose was to provide civilians an opportunity to learn and practice marksmanship skills so they would be skilled marksmen if later called on to serve the U.S. military.
Mission Statement
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) promotes firearms safety training and rifle practice for all qualified U.S. citizens with special emphasis on youth.
